First let’s look at spam which wants you to click on a link that will infect your computer with a Trojan

Notice that the message is from me to me, Spam is always spoofed, that is, the sender is not the real source of the message. After all, what spammer would send you their return address? can be from anyone. The bottom portion is copied from a microsoft website so it sounds and looks correct. The links in the bottom part of the message are valid.  But look at where the “nude movie link” will take you.

“Executable” links are very dangerous, and almost always will damage your computer.  One way to see where the link leads is to hover your mouse over the link and look for where the URL will lead. OpenDNS.com will block you from going to those types of sites and Internet Explorer will warn you as well.

Now let’s look at spam which is part of the “pump and dump” industry. Groups will spam the value of a particular stock and then unload their share when that stock responds to the spam attack.

Would this be a good place to get anti virus programs?
